Sunday's Picture - Bailey in 3D

Bailey in 3D!

I thought I'd share this picture I snapped earlier because I just really like it. I only wish it was IN FOCUS! Yeah, unfortunately I muffed this shot! It COULD have been a great shot...

I'm still learning the powers (or weaknesses) of the new Canon camera, and well, sometimes it's pretty clear of the weaknesses. The servo AF focus system on the Canon is nowhere near as good as on my Nikon! Oh well, sometime ya nail the shot, sometime it nails you.... That being said, right after I snapped  this picture Bailey nailed me. Thankfully, I was able to keep control of the camera and not dump it in the snow! Looking through the lens at Bailey charging me, trying to snap the perfect photo, while knowing she's like a freight train heading right at me was a bit too much pressure for me to stay concentrated on the shot.... and I cracked!

Have a great day my friends!

A Weim Crazy Dinner Adventure

Bailey & Darby watching my dinner plate last night.

O..M..G!! I could go CRAZY at dinner time at our house! I'm not sure who raised these two before us but they have ZERO table manners! We've been trying to break them of "table surfing" and "table watching" but I think I'm fighting a losing battle...

We have a few issues that are putting us on the losing end, one of which are these little things, dependants... otherwise known as KIDS!!!! That's right! While most families sit down together at dinner time and enjoy the time together, our family spends it yelling at dogs and children...

It's a chain reaction! We put dinner out... we're eating dinner... one kid decides they need something and gets up from the table leaving that big juicy plate of food sitting there... pup sneaks in and WHAMMO! Gone! More yelling and screaming at dogs and children... REPEAT....

Besides that, dinner is great!  UGH! I have got to get this under control. We're like a pack of wolves!

New Day = New Experience

Weim Crazy Bailey

The dogs were a bit crazy tonight for some reason, especially Bailey.... She was all over me while I was trying to snap a few pictures of them for the blog! She licked the lens so I had to wipe it down, then she jumped on my back and started licking my head uncontrollably.. It was pretty disgusting to say the least but I was pinned on the floor trying to protect my camera and my face all in one.... I was laughing and the more I laughed, the more she licked! Yuk!

Darby (Teeth)

Darby on the other hand, she didn't want to have anything to do with our shenanigans! As usual, she sat back watching us for a second, and at one point came to my rescue to put Bailey in her place. As you can see from the teeth showing above and dominant stance Bailey quickly backed off.....

Bailey had enough...... hey, it's bedtime! Leave me alone!

I think they're getting cabin fever just like most of us are here in Ohio. It's been crazy cold, so cold that the dogs don't even want to hang out outside!! Amy had to go pick Bailey up from in the back of the yard a couple weeks ago because her poor little princess feet were cold. She (Bailey) looked like one of those lizzards in the desert that lift their feet off the ground like in the video below! I'm ready for summer!!

Cleveland Ohio Weim Meet & Greet Plans

I've been thinking about this for some time and with all the chatter on weimaraneraddict.com forums I've decided to champion a Weim Meet & Greet this spring here in the Cleveland  Ohio Area. I'm just starting to look into this idea now but I have a location in mind for this meeting.

We frequently go to the Lake Erie lake shore to take the dogs to swim and there in a nice little dog friendly beach area on the west side of Cleveland that is the perfect place. We can save a pavilion with grills and the pups can swim all day long.... I thought I'd post a few pictures for the area that we go to so you can get an idea what to expect. I'll look into this more over the next few weeks. If you're interested in helping out let me know! I think a "pot luck" type of a 'cookout" would be the best idea.... I'll start looking at dates...

Cleveland Weimaraner Meet?

With all the discussions about Ohio Weimaraner owners over on weimaraneraddict.com and the talk of meeting up I thought I'd spearhead a Weim Meet & Greet up here in Northeastern Ohio sometime this spring or early summer. I thought about getting the dogs out to a beach area that we frequent in the summertime here on lake Erie (perhaps sometime in May or June).

The area is not a "dedicated dog park" however it is a dog friendly park that everyone takes their pups to. There is a small break wall about 30ft out and a large beach area.

I'll  post more information soon, if you have any suggestions please feel free to let me know.

Back at it!

Bailey in mid-yawn (with Glacier & Darby in the background watching)

Wow, when you order new gear and have to wait for it to arrive it seems like forever!! That was the longest wait of my life waiting for my new lens to come in! Anyway.... I got it in the mail today and like a giddy lil kid on Christmas morning I ran to the door when I heard the truck pull up. This is one of the first pictures snapped (snapshot) on the new camera and the new lens and I have a feeling I'm really going to like it. I like the bokeh the lens produces and it's pretty sharp right off the camera even wide open at f/2.8 and 18mm! I'll be out shooting in the morning (if it's not too cold) to really get a chance to try it out I hope.

Bailey finishing up her yawn....with a nice grin.

Anyway, it's nice to be "back at it" and I'll be snappin' photos of these clowns for the next few days.

"Treat?"

A few more pictures

Isabel sent me this text message yesterday morning.... pretty funny stuff.
This is what happens when a "treat" falls under the fridge. (taken on her phone).

Well, I hope that these pictures are some of the last of the pictures taken on our phones! That's right, with the updated camera and lens I should be all set up over the next week to finally get decent shots once again. It's been far too long... Anyway, here are a few pictures and videos taken over the past week or two.

Anything to keep warm - Sun bathing in the kitchen  (:

Relaxing? I think not!

Told ya she'd sit on anything.... dirty bed sheet?

What do you shoot?

Back at it! That's right.. I'm back in the driver's seat once again and will soon be back out shooting after being away for a while. I made a decision to get away from shooting for the past 8 months or so and it's been killing me.... I didn't miss it at first, but for the past few weeks I've been going crazy thinking about it and what a terrible decision I had made. I've made more sacrafices and ended up with a new camera.

I've shot Nikon cameras for the past few years and have now switched over to Canon. A good friend of mine swears by Canon as well as studio so I thought I'd try it out for a while. I picked up the Canon EOS 50D and should have it in production this weekend! WooHoo! I'm excited! So far from what I've seen playing around with this camera I think I'm really going to enjoy it.

Look for many more images of the Weims soon!

Christmas Blues

Well with the holiday season now over I find myself falling into the holiday blues... It's a depressing time of year taking down the Christmas tree, family all goes home, and we all attempt to get back to our every-day schedules... You know, the daily grid if you will. I've been down sick with the crud for the past 8 days and it kicked my butt! I haven't felt very "creative" thus the lack of posts recently however that's about to change. I'm feeling a bit better today and I have a new contest coming up soon, so stay tuned for that!

Since I really don't have anything to post today I was thinking "blues" and "weimaraners" and decided to search YouTube and here's what I came up with today... So, we'll get a laugh at others expense today. Here's a Weim singing the blues........ I'm sure this is how Bailey & Darby are feeling, this is how I've felt the past week!

Oh yeah, you know how everyone always says to dispose of you medicine in a save manner... like flush them down the toilet or something?? Well, we knew better and dumped some old meds in the garbage the other day not thinking.. Bailey and Glacier decided to tear into the trash can while outside and guess what..... there are meds in there! Let's just say 1 tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide down the hatch and Bailey hacked within 2 minutes...... And since we didn't have any more peroxide, 1 teaspoon of salt down Glacier's throat and she yakked too... thankfully, they didn't eat any of the medicine but we did it just in case...

This should be a good reminder for everyone.......  This could have been a disaster!

Anyway, here's the video I wanted to share,

Enjoy! (and Happy New Year!)
